How can I fix my AEG OKO FAVORIT dishwasher?

Following the advice on this forum (error 30 on an integrated AEG Favourit dishwasher less than 6 months old) I have managed to sort the problem by switching off the dishwasher, removing the front panel (6 screws) and mopping up the water with tea towels. It was a bit fiddly because it is integrated but worked a treat. Thanks to everyone.

I have an AEG Favorit 34502VIO. Tonight water started coming out below the door and the 3-beep anti-flood warning started sounding, with the pump running continuously. I think that the outlet hose had become slightly blocked with fairly revolting-looking, pondy-smelling grey matter, so I cleaned it with a bottle brush as far as I could reach and poured water into the bottom of the dishwasher while the pump was running to ensure it pumped out. As the machine is built in and tipping is therefore difficult, I followed the instructions posted in October 2015 by Terry Eaves and it is now running again, so many thanks Mr Eaves. The only difference with my machine is that there are 6 screws not 8 and I removed the water from the white plastic tray at the bottom with a small cellulose sponge, which took about 10 minutes in total. I could then run it as usual and am taking the advice offered elsewhere on the site and putting my gel-covered tablets in the cutlery basket and running the 70 degree 'Professional' programme to try to flush out any gel residues (I noticed that there were a few coloured bits in the bottom of the machine, as described). I am leaving the panels off for a day or two as Mr Eaves suggests, both to dry it out and to keep an eye on it. Many thanks for all the advice - very much appreciated.

Hi, I own a AEG 4020 which wasn't draining, so having read all the bloggs, thought I would have a go at finding the problem. I stripped off the sides and found I also had a resident mouse. After cleaning out the muck with a pressure hose and drying with compressed air, I was happy to have a closer look. I found the pump under the front plate below the door. A bit fiddly to take the clamps off the pipes bit managed with a pair of pliars. I found a prune pip lodged in the inlet of the pump, how it managed to get past the filters is a mystery. Once clean, I refitted the pump and all was well. It saved me from having to buy a new machine so thank you for all the useful information I got from your blogg.

I tried everything, cleaning drying but nothing works, when i leave the machine at rest for a week or two, then it works, for a couple of washing and again 2 leds flashing, does anyone have the diagram of testing the mashine with built on PCB?

I have just saved myself a fortune by reading this thread (now 12 years old!) and fixed my AEG Favorit 35085 Vi by taking the lower front panel off and draining the tray underneath (more detailed instructions below). Reading the posts, I wonder how many people fixed the reason why the tray was filling up in the first place? In my case, what appears to be a breather valve on the top of the dishwasher had become dislodged, so water was escaping from the top and dripping down the back into the machine. Simply fixed the gasket and valve back in place and no more leaks. Now what caused the breather valve to dislodge?..............................

i30 Error, can also be cause by using Tablets covered in a plastic like soft Gel. The Gel can reform inside the hose and any component water travels through.

Best to use a very hot wash (do not use eco mode its too cold).

If you see in the bottom of your dishwasher soft-ish plastic like bits, this is the Gel coating from the 3-1 tablet

Ensure that the tablet is expose to water during pre-wash, i.e. not in a sealed power section. If your dishwash does not have a tablet holder place it in **plastic** basket with the cutlery.

Tablets should have a temperature listed on the packet, ensure the temperature is greater than this. If you think you are only just OK, then occasionally wash at the higher temperature if available. (may be once a week) to make sure the Gel is washed out of the machine.

You can also using cleaning products at high temperatures to get the Gell out as well..

Like the others, the dishwasher need to be tip, but I suspect this helps loosen the gel inside the sensors.

Works on the Favorit F88709M0P too.....Code 30, constant pump running. Pull it out from under worksurface, empty it out, tilt it back (2 towels of water) wait a minute, put it back. Works - cleans kitchen floor too.....

Had the same problem with our inbuilt F34502VI0.

Took out four screws, cleaned the tray out with kitchen towels and paper towels.

Then it worked again.

Not impressed with such a design though, 6 months failed twice, and the AEG service turnaround is a joke.

Like others, the i30 flood watching activated. Tipping machine over with towels to catch water fixed it. Then it happened again. More and more frequently. My wife would call me when she couldn't start the machine.
I put the machine up on blocks and ran it, couldn't see a leak. Then I noticed that the machine was filling up by itself even when turned off.

My thought is that the solenoid valve that attaches to the water tap is failing, and not turning off properly. The machine fills with water slowly and then leaks into the base tray.
When you try and start a new cycle it tries to drain itself of course but can't drain its base, and that disguises the self-self-filling problem. So when I get home to see why it's reporting flooding, it's drained the inside!

Has anyone else had one which fills up when turned off?

FOR FAVORIT 35085 VI

I had the flood warning issue on my integrated (built in) 35085 VI. It's now fixed with minimal disruption and no need to shake, pull, or tip.

First you need access to the bottom front - for me this involved removing the under cupboard plinths.

Now you can see the steel front panel with 4 obvious screws holding it in - there are actually 8 screws all along the line of the sides - the top 2 on each side are much easier to see and remove with the door open - Remove the steel front panel by taking out all 8 screws. (Phillips not Torx)

With luck you will now see the plastic bottom tray - hopefully fairly full of water. For me removing this water with a small syringe attached to a piece of thin pipe cleared the fault code. I got around 1.5 Litres out of my bottom tray.

You may find it helps to gently lower the front left side of the tray to bring the water towards the front edge and have it flow towards you.

Once the tray was empty I cleared the code by switcjhing on and pressing the cancel button - now my DW is working like a dream. I am running without a front steel panel for a few days to allow air to circulate and get the tray completely dry. Plan to final re-assemble next week.

If you have a 35085 I hope this is helpful

aeg diswasher said error 20, i hit it hard 5 times at the inside left side, and.... now it runs again :-) The overflow indicator was stuck i guess. Maybe i have to remove the left outer panel later, to fix the real problem...... when i have the time

I had already replied to a question on this and agreed that by tipping it up and drying up all the water that came out would cure the problem. Our dishwasher, however, started doing this every time we used it and I got fed up with tipping it up. Watched a youtube video on how to clean out the plastic tubing cassette on the left handside of the dishwasher . I couldn't believe how gunged up this was and it took some cleaning out. I am no engineer and could easily managed the disassembly and reassembly.It took about 45 mins and it has been fine ever since.

No one seemed to answer if the machine is "inbuilt" and you can't tip it..? The answer I discovered in that case is (after turning off!) to unscrew the bottom tray case (6 screws on mine) and mop up the lake in the bottom tray where the wires and control units are. Once dried up, turn back on and works perfectly like new ! Hallelujah !!

Error message 30? Simply disconnect from the mains, tilt the dishwasher backwards 45 degrees, this will tip the filthy water out over your floor, beware, then reconnect, no need to take any back or bottom off the appliance.

I've repaired our AEG 60820 several times and the flood warning means water has got into the tray at the base which stops the machine before the house is flooded. If you have a real leak in a pipe (I have had 3) tilting only works until the tray fills again and trips the error. And tilting tips the tray water onto your floor so be wary.
2 of my pipe holes have been in the rising tube assembly rubber which splits far too easily - only lasts about 5 years and is a design fault in an otherwise great machine.

Thanks a lot for the answers of all of you. I was able to fix the Error 30 in my AEG favorit 55020 machine by ripping the machine on its side, emoving the baseplate and basically cleaning all of the dirt away.

It works like normal again.

oplossing: vaatwasser losgekoppeld. op de zij gekanteld. een van de zijpanelen eraf genomen (5 schroefjes). Daarna kan je de plastic bodemplaat eruit halen. Die klikt met enkele lipjes vast in het frame. Met een platte schroevendraaier kan die de ie lipjes losmaken.
Als de bodemplaat eruit ui, zie je een piepschuim/isomo stukje zittne. dat is gebodgen en raakt een kleine schakelaar als het water in de bodemplaat stijgt en het piepschuim mee naar boven drijft. Dat geeft de storing.

In mijn geval was de bodemplaat niet volgelopen met water, maar was er en pak smerigheid in terecht gekomen. Er zat ook een dode spin net onder die schakelaar. Het is echt een kwestie van millimeters...

In mijn geval heb ik de bodemplaat met wat ontvetter en een emmer kokend water weer helemaal schoon gekregen. ik heb ook het piepschuimen stukje eruit gehaald en gereinigd. Er was wat vettigheid aangekomen en dat was plakkerig geworden. Wees voorzichtig als je dat stuk hanteert. als het stuk is, kan je het niet zomaar vervangen..

Daarna installeerde ik het stukje terug. Daarna de bodemplaat opnieuw op zijn plaats geklikt (check of alle lipjes goed zitten!) en voila! De schakelaar wordt niet meer geactiveerd en de machine werkt weer zoals het hoort.

I was searching for an answer to my AEG Favorit 40660 i dishwasher problem when I stumbled across this site. The dishwasher got stuck with the flashing lights in threes at the end of the programme with the pump continuously running. Even when I cleaned all the waste pipes it made little difference. I tried leaning the washer back at 45 degrees for a few minutes and, bingo, it seems to have worked. I also feel more confident at having a go now at some of the other suggestions. Thanks to all contributors.

Re Anti flood system code 30, continuous pump even when switched off. I have a Favorit 55402 VIOP only 6 months old. During use a flat pan fell out of the rack into the bottom of the machine and caused a code 30 anti flood error code and continuous pump action even when switched off. I did not want to call an engineer because technically it was our fault and could have resulted in a charge even though it is under warranty. Thanks to a lot of excellent inputs from others on this site I investigated it myself. I removed the front bottom panel, which has 3 screws either side, and carefully slid my hand in until I found the water reservoir at the rear right side, which of course was full. Using absorbent cloths and paper towels I drained the water out and the problem was solved.
Points to note- isolate the dishwasher from the mains and be very careful because the actuating floats are expanded polystyrene and very fragile. There is not a lot of room for your hand!
I hope that this will be of help to those who cannot pull the dishwasher out or are not capable of manhandling the machine to tip the water out.

There was a Mouse in the House....

Had same problem ...Error 30, tilting machine did not help. Opened it up, by removing side panels and what do I find? Mr Mouse had started eating away at some insulation material and at the polistyrine float that triggers float trip switch, which gives error 30.

Vacuumed the tray clean, manual activated and deactivated float trip switch a few times by hand and wha-la, it working again!!!

Also caught the little bugger that was causing the problem.

This trick worked for me too! Amazing.
All I needed was a screwdriver to remove the screws holing the dishwasher in place (at the top, after opening the door) .
It slid out easily, I tipped it back about 30 degrees, it made a short gurgling sound and left a small puddle of water, turned it on and Presto!

All up, 10 minutes work.

Error 30, with drain pump running. Couldn't run any programs. Removed filters from bottom of unit. Noticed something orange in one of the holes. Tipped unit on its side and gave a good shake. Found the plastic screw top that holds orange spray unit to spray arm had somehow got in there. Removed this and reattached unit. Replaced filters. Reset settings by pressing 70 and Auto simultaneously. Hey presto, now all seems fine!

My AEG favorit dishwasher flooded the kitchen and then wouldn't work! Read what people had put. So thought I would give it a go and it worked! Took me 2 mins!

2 lights flashing! Guild said contact engineer. Thought I was going to have to get a new one. I was willing the put the sledge hammer through this one!! Did some reading last night and this morning all I did was tip the machine back at 45% angle, left it a couple of minutes, tried to turn it on! Hey presto! It worked! So rewarding when u do it your self! And cheaper!

Please note that some water does spill out the bottom! Few towels around the bottom of the machine stops it from getting everywhere!

Have an AEG Favorit Celebration 911 232 700 00 and the program stop LED blinked 3 times indicating something is wrong with water stop. Machine would not start any program after it did for one or two times after the error occured first time.
Tried out the flip backwards 45 degree. Some water came out (not more than 0.1 l). Since it works !

Favorit 58077 with sensor logic. i30 on the display, whirring pump sound from bottom rear. (Drain pump?) Followed the tipping 45° backward and side to side suggestion. Have plenty of towels underneath or large tray. Plugged it back in, reset the machine and put it on a 30min cycle. Drain pump? Whirred for a little bit and then the water kicked in. Bingo! All seems good now. Thank god for this forum...

Hi. I'm a AEG Favourit 6271 IM owner , code 91123441401 s/n 04074298. While my washer was working , at 10 minutes to the end the displays start to blink "10" and never got forward anymore. I switched off and turned on again several times but it still remains blinking "10". The pump is new, the drain pump too and I don't know what can I do. Can you help me ?

Just had the same problem with my AEG F86070V1 model. Turned out I had a pip prick size hole in the connecting tube bonded to the bottom of the rising tube assembly (this piece is not available separately). Easily seen once I had removed the small panel at the back of the machine. To advice from earlier posts & ordered the rising tube from Electrolux. Part number is 407 13 48-17/3, price (sterling) 27.99 + 1.99 delivery (2 - 5 working days) or approx. 33 for next day. Comes with the red retaining clip for the top of the hose, old one pulls off with gentle pressure but is single use only. Takes about 10 minutes to fit. Mole grips are handy for removing the spring clamps. Put it on a rinse cycle & no more I30!! Hope this helps.

My AEG dishwasher suddenly stopped working after 5 years displayed the i30 error code and would not start the cycle, it just made a constant pumping noise. I googled and found this, I tipped the dishwasher backwards on a 45 degree angle, and left it for about 10 minutes, and maybe 75ml water leaked out the back at the base. After that it worked good as new, thanks to this blog I saved the hassle of getting a service technician, much appreciated

The selected program flashes continually and the end wash indicator flashes three times then stops for a few seconds then flashes 3 times.

Any advice on what this signifies? We've done the tilt thing before but think that was for a different error.

Problem solved completely by Monday afternoon. AEG that went on the blink on Saturday displaying the "i30"-error code has gotten some new parts and is going through a wash cycle as I write. I made an early morning call to AEG service center and found out that they had exactly the part that I needeed. AEG does not supply the short silicone rubber piece but you can get it together with the clear plastic tube that leads water to the washing arm. It seems that silicone rubber is glued to plastic for a good and long lasting seal and because of that you have to buy the whole thing from the pump upward. It wasn´t expensive, only 30€ and the kit included also the rubber seal to the washing arm. As I removed the old parts I noticed that the old seal was somewhat worn so I dont mind the extra parts at all. Installation was easy. Tube clamp came off easily with vise grips. Removing the plastic tube called only for some pulling and then there was one cable tie to cut and replace. Whole thing was installed in less than five minutes. At this point I became a little careless. I set the machine to do a pre-rinsing program and while the machine was running felt with my middle finger if the rubber seal was really leak proof. Stuck my finger right into the electric connectors of the pump and felt all the power of the grid. Pumps run on high amps and I have two blisters on my middle finger to prove that.

AEG dishwasher went on blink yesterday and since it had worked flawlessly for something like 8 years, I had no idea what was wrong with it. Display was showing errorcode i30 and it was beeping. Manual told to shut the machine down, turn off water and call service. Next thing to do was to google the errorcode and I soon discovered that this errorcode was very well known among AEG users. Pulling out the machine and removing the little panel on the back of the machine verified that water was indeed gathering on the bottom of the machine and lifting the small float which triggers a switch and makes the errorcode appear on the display. So far so good, but where was the water coming from? First I could not see the source and I thought that there was a slow leak in some gasket. After resetting the machine and making it to run a washing program I noticed that water was coming way too fast for some slow, undetectable leak. Finally my wife with her better eyes noticed a thin jet of water emerging from a piece of yellow silicon rubber hose that connects the pump to the clear plastic pipe that directs water to the washing arm. Since it is Sunday, there is no service available and dishes are piling up in the kitchen. Quick fix was to wind several layers of duct tape around the silicon rubber hose and cross fingers. I´ll get a repair man or spare part tomorrow and my trusty AEG will be able to fight an other day. I must confess that a few times today I was already lookin through ad leaflets from electronics stores and thinking about buying an Electrolux first thing on Monday morning, but a hole the size of a needle or smaller is not reason enough for me to ditch an old servant.

I own the Oko Favorit 4020 and all of a sudden it was in "drain mode" only. The machine stayed on in drain mode no matter what position the selector dial was moved to in all of the cycle modes. I turned off the water feed and disconnected the water feed from the machine and made sure there was water and pressure, as well as checking that the filter was clear - no problems there. I reconnected the water feed and I filled a bucket of water and filled the bottom tray; and when the machine was powered on; it drains but does not feed water into the machine. I drained all the water from the bottom tray and used a large 50cc syringe to also drain the salt reservoir. I tilted the machine over onto the floor on its right hand side (mains power disconnected!) and gave it a few gentle taps to hopefully "dislodge" or reset the anti flood switch. After reconnecting everything and powering up the machine, hey presto it was back in working order! Thanks to all the tips on howtomendit.com to save me some dollars and not have to call a tech out. My GF is well impressed with me.

I have recently had the dreaded i30 error on my Favorit 40860 (model S) and solved it, so I thought I would share my experience.

The error message means that water has somehow escaped from the machine. Enough of it will have collected in the very bottom of the machine and triggered a device. All that the device is, is a piece of polystyrene which floats when too much water has collected. This floating in turns triggers a switch which causes the error. The cute thing about the error, though, is that it automatically triggers the machine to pump out the remaining water in the machine. Helpful.

To reset your machine you can cancel the cycle it is on. I did this by turning off and on, opening the door and then pressing the 30 Min and Intensive Care 70 buttons on the front simultaneously (which are my model’s two buttons to press to cancel the cycle).

So, after turning off the electrics, I pulled my machine out from its place under the work surface and placed a couple of old towels on the floor at the rear of the machine. I then tipped the machine backwards at about 45 degrees and then a bit sideways. All that you are doing is moving water around in the tray at the bottom of the machine in the hope of getting some of it to spill out of the machine – thus allowing the polystyrene float to go down a bit and stop triggering the gizmo which then causes the i30 error.

If you are lucky, and the cause of your ‘leak’ is not a defective part the tipping over trick may work and that is all you need to do. In my case it wasn’t because when I started the machine again, the i30 error arose again. I now had to find the cause.

So, I reset the machine again and tipped it over again – the intention this time being to watch what was going on inside the machine.

I used the excellent instructions on this page (http://www.fixya.com/support/t136292-fix_error_code_30) posted by ‘anguscw’ to remove the top, lower-front, right-hand side, and small lower back panels.

Briefly, you will need a screwdriver with torx bits (star shaped). Remove the top panel by undoing the 2 screws at rear top, then push the top backwards and lift it off. Then remove the small curved panel at the front base of the machine – it is not held in by any screws, it just needs a push to the left – it can help to see what you’re doing if you open the door. Then remove the right side panel – there are 2 screws at the top, 3 on the back edge and one on the front edge (at the bottom). My advice is to keep a note of which screws come from which holes because they are not all the same. You will find that the front edge of this right-hand panel is wedged inside some trim. It’s not held in but quite stiff to get out. I just slid it upwards with a little encouragement. I then removed the small panel at the back (bottom). At this point it should only be held in with one screw (to the left-hand side panel) because you’ve already removed the one on the right. You should now have good access to the inner workings of the machine and see lots of pipes and wires. A torch will be handy.

What I then did was to start up the machine and watch (from a distance since electricity and water don’t mix) for leaks. Sure enough I soon spotted one and after a minute of water hissing out of a perished pipe, the i30 error was triggered and the machine pumped itself dry.

In my case, the cause was a leak on a 3” long piece of rubber tubing that forms part of a stiff plastic ‘arm’ which recirculates water into the back of the machine (where it gets forced into the upper spray arm). The rubber tubing is held onto a steel tube which is part of some electrical device (maybe a pump – I don’t know).

The rubber tubing and plastic arm are all one piece. The arm is also held in place by a plastic tie (to the frame of the machine) and by a [ shaped device on the back of the machine. The [ shaped piece of plastic (red in my case) does not seem removable without destroying it. It pushes onto some metal studs which form part of the rear panel of the machine. Be careful at removing this red plastic thing as I am not sure how much force it would take to rip the studs out of the panel and leave you with two holes in the back of your machine. I snapped my red thing off with a pair of pliers and then ‘unscrewed’ the two broken halves. (The replacement red part (see below) is just pushed on when you come to mending).

To get the rubber tubing off the pump (if that is what it is), you will need some large pliers or better still a clamp to release the pressure on the clip holding the tubing onto the pump. I used a small G clamp.

As far as replacements go, I got mine direct from Electrolux. I had to buy the plastic arm (plus tubing – all one part) along with a new red [ thing and also a new rubber seal for the inside of the machine (although I didn’t actually replace that in the end as the existing one if fine) since they all came as one ‘part’.

It will help if you have the product number code (PNC) from your machine. This is actually the code for your machine, not the part you need. You will find it on the inside edge of the door. You need the first 9 digits (mine were 911 232 750).

The website will then tell you your model number and the parts available. I then clicked on Hydraulic System. If you then click on Explosion View it will show you a very handy diagram of the parts related to the ‘hydraulic system’ - http://procornerpdf.electrolux.com/static/Pictures/Views/N5911/2005026.PDF

This is really useful since there are no diagrams to accompany the actual parts that they list as being available to buy. Although I had guessed from the parts list that I probably needed the ‘Rising Tube’, being able to see it on the diagram and match the part number with their list of available parts was very useful.

The bit I needed was component number 145 (Rising Tube, Complete) which comprised the tube itself plus the red [ thing (number 527A) and the rubber seal (130A) which I didn’t really need.

In all it cost me around £25 including postage. I ordered on a Friday and it arrived on the following Thursday. So less than a week of washing up before the dishwasher was up and running again ! And a whole lot cheaper than calling out an engineer which is what AEG’s Customer Care Department (to whom the instruction manual refer you to) said I should do !

Had the same problem as other people with the top two lights on my AEG Favorit dishwasher flashing to indicate that the anti floodsystem had been triggered. I have emptied the water out by opening the salt fill cap and sucking it out with my wet vac. This did not work by itself so I pulled out the machine and laid it right and left and shuck it both times. I'm guessing that there is some kind of device that has stuck.
This has done the trick for now. Great!

Thankyou so much to all on here. Machine stuck on the "4 o'clock" stage on Aeg oke 3220i. After removing kick board and pulling out machine I syphoned salt container tipped machine and it's now running perfectly. How good is this tinternet thing? Very empowering. Thanks from a grateful 59 yr old woman who is now feeling smug....and eating chocolate ... to take away taste of salt you understand.

Our OKO_FAVOURIT indicated a C1 error in the middle of the cycle. We had air pockets in our main water feed which disconnected the pipe feeding the water dispenser unit. This activated the anti-flooding sensor which in turn activated the draining pump (C3 error). We drained the water by tilting the machine backwards, at about 45deg and then removed the top and left hand panel. We reconnected the hose and drained the remaining water by tilting the machine to the left. Reassembled and powered on - and errors have been cleared in approx 30 mins - thanks for all the help :-)

I have used the tilt method about 3 times to reset the anti flood mechanism but recently it has not worked. So I removed the left side panel of my built in washer. At the base of the clear plastic cassette there was a blockage that was causing a leak from the overflow pipe. After removing the cassette (carefully) I cleared the blockage using a fine screwdriver and garden hose pipe. Dishwasher is now working fine.

I had the dreaded .30 error on my AEG F87000P a couple of days after the one year guarantee was up! It just wouldn't clear with power cycles/resets and sat there beeping with the drain pump constantly on.

After checking the filter & drain hose for blockages I checked this forum. It's kind of built in so would have to ununstall it to get out to do a 45 degree tilt but there was a couple of inches clearance at the top so I gave it a good shake a few times (quite agressively) and bingo the fault has cleared.

just to say my aeg oko favorit 5040 anti flood switch kicked in !! mine is intergrated so couldnt tip it, i took out salt reservoir syhoned off about 2 pints of water with a syringe, then dryed it with a hair dryer, waited till next day and bingo !! up and working again, put 0,5 of a litre back in salt reservoir. thanks for the tip saved me some money !!

whoever the bright spark was that discovered the tilt method of overcoming the anti flood system in my aeg favorit 50730 thank you. machine became blocked. and anti flood system kicked in. i was unaware of this until i'd cleared the blockage. to do that i used a hose pipe connected to outlet pipe to and blasted cold water into it. removed the rubbish in it with a sive. turned on the machine after reconnecting the outlet pipe and the machine drained but would not start a cycle. then read the instructions and found out the anti flood system had been triggered. pulled the dishwasher out and tilted it backwards to 45 degrees. put it backdown after 10 seconds. switched it on and hey presto. so again thankyou to whoever discovered this method of overcoming the anti flood system. be prepared for a small amount of water seepage after tilting.

I live in New Zealand and we have an AEG 60820. I used this forum a couple of years ago when we had an issue with the pump going continuously (tilt and drain solved this issue.) This past weekend we had an Error 20 (machine would start a cycle but would not drain.) After much online reading it sounded like a pump/siphon blockage but I could not find any assistance with details on how to get to the pump. Tried a few tricks (tilting, taking off the side and blowing through the drain pipe - was all clear) but gave in and called the service technician. Ended up a pistachio shell had somehow got through the filter systems and was blocking the pump. Service tech first thought the pump had gone but in 20 mins had solved the issue by removing the pistachio shell from the pump. He said he had to remove the front panel (and door??) to get to the pump. If anyone finds some good diagrams online please post them here to help others.

I have a 40850 and had the error code 30. I did the tilt trick more and more often. At the end it didn't work anymore. I removed the left panel. There is a huge water tank. I removed it (lot of water coming out, be careful). The tank was blocked in the lower part. I cleaned as much as I could.
I found that the pipe that drains the tank was totally blocked. I pushed a bottle brush through the pipe until it came out in the sink of the machine. There I could remove all the disgusting trash that came out of the pipe. Now it's running fine again!
What happened was that the blocked pipe lead to an overflow into the bottom part of the dishwasher because the water wasn't transported as fast as needed. This obviously caused the flood error.
Unplug it from power supply and close the water tap before you start working!!! (Sorry for the poor english, I am from Germany)

I have had my AEG 40660 for a number of years, over the last 6 months it has tripped the anti-flood about a dozen times.
I think i have finally cured it. After taking of the side panels, i emptied all the water from the base of the machine and found the anti flood device. It is at the bottom of the machine in the middle, a polystyrene block operates a micro-switch above it.
I ran the machine to look for leaks and i discovered that on the left hand side there is a flat plastic bottle with different channels everywhere. On the left hand side of the bottle is a small vent tube (3-4 inches long) that dangles in the tray. When the water enters the machine to wash, a few drops of water go down this vent pipe, as the machine fills up about 3 times during a cycle (pre, main, rinse wash) a small amount of water drips into base and raises float then disable it over time .
What i have done is bend this tube in a U shape upwards and cable tieing it in place . I also put a water absorbant strip material in the side tray.
After a couple of weeks i took the back of the machine and the tray was bone dry.
By the way emptying salt reservoir doesn't do anything. Be careful not to block vent tube and be careful to turn off electric when probing around inside

The first time the anti flood device on my AEG Favorit 3220i activated it took 2 months to dry out on its own (I was about to replace it and thought I'd give it one last go after 7 weeks of not trying). This time I drained the water from the salt reservoir and under the removable filters usng a syringe and old cloth. The pump was still whining and because my machine is integrated I didn't really want to try and remove it to tilt it. Instead I just firmly slapped the base of the machine on the inside twice and it worked. This must have reset the jammed float in the flood prevention mechanism.

Absolutely fab advice. My very silly husband decided to use the dishwasher to rinse a very thick yogurt marinade and in doing so, thoroughly blocked the dishwasher and obviously triggered the anti-flood mechanism. Followed advice of draining salt reservoir with turkey baster and tilting machine (no easy feat as dishwasher is built-in very tightly) and SUCCESS! Dishwasher mended and husband saved from death!!!

We have a built-in dishwasher unit which have tried to remove but the guys who installed it decided to put it right next to the oven, which means we can't get the dishwasher out without taking the oven out first... not ideal.

Any ideas how we can solve the problem without having to move or tip the dishwasher?

This worked for my 50860 by draining the salt reservoir (using a syringe) and then tilted it to 45 degrees each way. Some water on the floor but the towels got most of it.

Error message 30 came up on my AEG 3F Model. Drained salt container which was full using car oil removal pump but had to wait overnight for sensor to re-set before the machine would work normally. Went back to using salt and manually re-set the salt adjustment to high.

This worked a treat after the recent freeze. Dishwasher working perfect now. All it took was to tip the dishwasher up to drain the salt reservoir, be careful this doesnt drain on the floor tho!

Thanks so much to everyone for the hints. Flood protection system activated after pipes froze and water supply messed up. I drained out the salt tank and tilted the machine forward as described. Now working perfectly and I have a happy wife again!!

Hi, the i30 code came back during the first cycle, so it started to strip the disher - top had to come off first and there I found the real issue - there is a outlet on the disher roof (inside the dishwsher) which has a while plastic clip over it - this had broken off ages ago but I had never though anything of it, but by trying to re-attch it from inside, the seal had been broken on this outlet pipe. The padding was soaking whn I took the lid off and so I re-attached the click (inside to seal the outlet again) - luckily I had kept the plastic clip. No there is no leak and no fault code - hope this helps someone else

I have an OKO Favorit 50500, it's at least 7yrs old (bought used, so unsure exactly how old it is), has run without problem till now. Couldn't find a repairman local to our village and was considering replacing the machine, but decided to try Google first.

Glad I did, saw E Lambert's suggestion - disconnected, syphoned out all water from inside (including most from salt well), ensured filters were OK. Towels down, dishwasher on its side (right first, nothing, then left side) where I left it for a while to drain fully; towel soaked up the water, which wasn't as much as I'd imagined (hand towel would have sufficed).

Machine replaced and reconnected - running fine.
I am yet one more very happy, grateful 'customer'.

absolute genius, drained as much water as i could from the salt compartment using cloths / towels , took the dishawasher out and tipped it front to back and side to side. had some minor spillage but nothing too serious as used towels to soak up spill.

After a minor flood - the flood defence mechanism activated (I didn't know this at the time!)

I applied the advice given below - cleared out drain hole with the inner part of a biro and turned the machine on its side and rocked it a couple of times to remove most of the water (previously removed salt reservoir cap) so that water could drain out (not all water from sump was removed).
at the moment it is on a trial run but seems to be operating normally!
(Ours is the 4040 model)

Just to agree 100% with this tip and to make new suggestions....Our 4040 drain must have blocked ( probably a Kalamata olive stone ), the anti-flood device was triggered and, on or off at the mains, the machine was inoperative and humming. Used a J cloth to dry out the sump, one of my son's old bass guitar strings to clear the blockage, a bit of garden hose to suck out the water from the salt container ( Yeugghh ! ), tipped the machine on its side, mopped up the floor, plugged in, switched on - SUCCESS !

dishwasher has just stopped had an engineer call round and he said it was the motor that sends the air around to circulate the water and he suggested getting a new dishwasher,he kept tapping a little black motot to the right side to make it go faster but no joy,is this something that could be to do with the water,i have no manual so have no idea.

What we couldn't work out is what is actual mechanism of anti-flood triggering, and how therefore to reset it - and why all these other fixes work - but then it occurred to us, that problem is when water gets into the base and can't get out.
Our problem was that water inlet at top of washer came loose so water ran down outside the drum but inside the dishwasher, into the base. We tried the tipping method but this just moved water around and I think there must be sensor there which, if it stays wet, leaves anti-flood triggered.
This makes sense because other high level overflows from drum discharge into base - so if it was to overflow, it goes into sealed base only, wets the sensor and triggers anti-flood.
Our solution was patience - tipped it fully on its side, pointed a hot air blower into it for hour or so, then left it overnight. Tipped it back next morning, water which had run into side panel ran out, so it was upright with its base dry - and (touch wood) it worked like a charm.

I have the AEG Electrolux 40860 and had the i30 error. I downloaded the manual at electrolux.co.za/Files/south_africa_english/Major_Appliances_Manuals/FAVORIT%2040860%20-%20911%20916%20634.pdf but no solution in there! I undid the salt reservoir from water with a water vacuum cleaner but that didn't help. Now I shaked the machine, and ideed... a tilt solved the problem whaha!

I have a Favorit 60860 dishwasher with an i30 fault.
After reading all of the above I decided to pull the dishwasher out and give it a gentle rock as suggested by others.! Sorted, all working fine again.

Another satisfied visitor to this site!

Came down to hear pump on 10 year old AEG Favorit 4040 grinding away and dial part way through cycle obviously going no where. Pump continued when machine switched off, so turned off at main.

Followed suggestion to use turkey baster to suck out water from salt reservoir and thought that might do it without tipping whole machine, but no. So pulled it out and lay it on side. Fortunately have tiled floor so small amount of water soaked up by towell.

Put it back, turned it on and all seems to be working. Reprieve from buying a new machine and/or a call out charge! Power to the people!

Another way, if you have a wet vac.
Is to suck out all that water from the salt reservoir and the sump.
This saves having to take the machine out and tipping it.
I don't know why this flood detector should be faulty any way, or where exactly it is?

I had a flashing programme led followed by 3x short flashes of the programme end led. I siphoned out water in the salt compartment followed by laying the machine on it's side ... worked straight away. What a great noise the fill cycle is :-) Thanks to all who posted.

First of all I emptied the salt container of all water, retried dishwasher and still encountered i30 error, I found a orange dial on left inside of dishwasher - I turned from 0 towards me and this released water from the fill cassette - waited until no more water released before turning back to 0 setting. I then began a 30minute cycle with a dishwasher clean... watched water go through the cassette until cycle completed without error!! I intend to start buying/using salt etc I stopped using salt when I started using the new Finish 10in1 stuff, big mistake. I am thinking about doing a couple of cycles using caustic soda or something to help clean out water cassette as I didn't feel comfortable undoing this to clean

Undo the salt container and if it's filled with water suck it all out with a turkey baster until no more can be found.

Make sure you then run a cleaner through and keep the salt topped up.

Once we had worked out which fixings were attaching the dishwasher to the kitchen unit it was quite straightforward although watch out for any blocks of wood that the kitchen builders might have placed on the top of the dishwasher to fill between the sound proofing/insulation material inlayed at the top and the worksurface.

As you pull the dishwasher forwards it will hit the front underside of the worksurface which will force it to exert pressure on the top edge of the back of the dishwasher and it will effectively jam and stop you pulling it out easily.

We used a bit of brute force in pulling the dishwasher forward after it jammed (as the wood had been glued in place) and we bent the top of the back panel, but it puhed back into place.

thanks everyone for this very useful advise, was going to skip my AEG oko favorit as it wasnt filling and the dial wasnt activating any programmes, even more strange was it wouldnt turn off until i turned it off on the wall socket. I had the front off it, messed with the wires to see if anything came loose, checked the pipe work and nothing. Did what was advised here emptied the salt reservoir, tipped the machine over and water everywhere on the floor, i put everything back and mopped up the mess, turned it on and yippy its working again.

Keeping it simple is always the best way.!!

Thanks for the tip guys - Our dishwasher is built in, and was a struggle to slide out, but we siphoned about half of the salt reservoir with a syringe and I wound down the 2 front legs so I could rock it back and forth slightly.
This was obviously enough to reset the anti-flood mechanism.
I let the concrete floor dry out under the kitchen unit before replacing it all.

I had terrible problems over many years with my AEG Favorit and this i30 service code. Had to tip it on its front/back/side more and more often to drain leaked water from the tray. Finally took the panels off, expecting to find a leaking pipe/pump/gasket, as other posters have suggested.

In fact, the leak was due to a revolting build up of gunk in the big flat plastic water "cassette" that runs up the side of the machine. The result was a back-up and overflow through a small moulding hole.

I removed the pipe beneath the cassette and poked at the gunk with a long cable tie, which cleared some of it. Then stuck a cup of caustic soda inside and ran a couple of cycles (no dishes, of course). This freed a lot of limescale and other bits of crap, which of course then got lodged in the spray-arm holes - had to do a lot of rinsing and poking to clear it all out.

Finally, and I think most crucially, I filled the relevant reservoirs up with salt and rinse aid. Before this I'd relied exclusively on 3-in-1 tablets, and used the special 3-in-1 setting on the machine as directed. We live in a pretty hard water area, and clearly there's just not enough salt in those tablets.

No problems since. I've read that the salt isn't just there to soften the water and counteract limescale - it also has a corrosive/purgative effect that helps keep all the pipes and reservoirs gunk-free.

Bottom line - ALWAYS USE SALT!

Favorit 40640 flood thingy activated tonight so emptied the salt dispenser with a syringe and tilted forward for a few seconds (water on the floor but not much). Tried running a program and it is working as I type this. Thanks for the advice saved a lot of time, stress and probably money.

Thanks from yet another happy person who tipped their dishwasher up and got the water out. Mine was built in: you just have to open the door to see the mounting screws (bolting the machine to the underside of the counter). Remove these and the wooden kick board below (mine was just pushed in place, but yours might be screwed), then pull out the machine.

I'm another one who can join to the club of self-fixers AEG eko favorit dishwasher. After 11 years without any malfunction of this machine, a month ago I've got a C3 error. Reading this page, I've got a courage to open dishwasher, take off a plastic water labyrinth positioned on the left (this was pretty hard to do), cleaned it with running water and some detergent to make fatty things run out, put it back in place, drained a water collected in plastic bottom plate where the sensor is, assembled and turned on... It's a month passed with 2-3 sets washed daily, and it works like a swiss clock!
One thing fascinated me with this machine: when I opened it, everything inside looked brand new, like I bought it yesterday. Thank you, AEG!

hey, bought AEG ÖKO_FAVORIT 50700 today from friend of mine. plugged, and tried to test with quickprogram, which lasts for 28min. worked well to 20, and then gave the C3 error. as i didnt have manual, i didnt know what that mean so just waited until program has lasted for about 40minutes and also some water started to escape from bottom. well, tried to push power button and it did turned off the lights but program just keep going (aswell as water). so, unplugged electric wire and finally machine stopped. water escape stopped aswell, and i did turned machine 45degrees (and even more) to all directions to get all water out (through there is still some water inside, but i cant get it out?).

So my question is, what shall i do now? is it safe to plug machine back and try again?

My OKO Fav 4020 has been so reliable. But suddenly it just got stuck - it was running with the dial moving and it gurgled ... all night! No resetting would change it I had to turn off power to stop it. I syphoned out half of the salt thingy as suggested (with a 10ml syringe) and then I tilted it forward/back a bit and twisted the dial back to the start again. Power is on and the sound of it filling is music to my ears. Thank you all so very much.

I've got an AEG Favorit 35085 VI - probably a much newer model than many of these others and I began to encounter problems with water not draining until it refused to work at all. Tried everything, gave up on it and was on the brink of making a new purchase when I had one last Google and, YES! HEY PRESTO - this page saved me £350!! With my model I firstly simply syphoned off the water from the salt container, using a cut-off bit of garden hose. I got a mouthful of 1-month-old water, but it worked! No need for tipping forward. We have an AEG F860501M Turbodry, Favorit Sensologic. Lost manual and had i30 on display. Intergrated dishwasher so wasn't looking forward to pulling it out and tilting it. We drained the salt water holder (even though we don't use it) as it was full of water by using a flexible piece of hose. We then undid the two screws holding the unit in place at the top of the machine, tilted the machine a couple of times within its own space. We then put the dishwasher on and presto it works!!! Thanks everyone.

when the power/start button is fully depressed, the power light comes on, but one let go to allow it to engage in the depressed position (in) the light goes out.
I've stripped down the internal sections and cleaned out all filters/parts and noticed the green impellors are moving freely, so its not that.
Also our model is around 5 years old and does not have an LCD panel.
Any thoughts, cheers.

I have a 50700, had the problem of the dishwasher being off but the motor keeps running, came out one morning and the entire room was filled with water. I also did the tilt 45' forward and backwards. And now it works 100% again. Thank goodness.

Had error 30 on our AEG Favorit 65050 Vi - Integrated so not easy to get out from under worktop - Turned off water supply and released water pressure - Fixed for a short while but fault came back - Salt water level was up to top of contained so used medicine plunger (15mL) to siphon off water to just below neck of contained - It cured the problem - Thanks for the guidance

E Lambert is a hero. My builtin AEG Favorit Sensorlogic F44570VI was not working. I could hear that no water was going in and that some kind of pump thing was running all the time. I just took it out and turned it upside down to fix it. Now it works.

Same error code e30 occurred on my AEG Favorit 40850 this weekend. Draining the salt dispenser with a siphon didn’t rectify the problem. So I removed the dishwasher completely, took it outside and tipped it on its front and side. That resolved the problem and it is now working again. Not sure is this is a permanent solution but it is working for now!

I seem to have fixed the same problem on OKO_FAVORIT 50700 dishwasher which was showing a C3 error by just taking the dishwasher out of the under counter position (there was a fair amount of rocking involved which may have reset the LEak Prevention System) and putting it back. I had also cleaned the filter and I also poured some water into the bottom just for good measure. Seems to be working fine now - very happy to have saved a call out, saved time and having to take time off work by not having to call out for an engineer.

I'm still waiting to hear from AEG customer services!

OKO FAVORIT 4040 - Interrupted a wash cycle wrongly, by using on/off button instead of simply opening the door (I'd lost my instruction manual). This had activated the anti-flood device and I couldn't do anything with the machine. Even though it was 'off', the machine kept making a noise.

Saw advice on this website to try tipping it. Not practical for me as I have a slight disability, so bought a simple plastic siphon pump from a DIY shop - only 2 pounds - and siphoned about two litres of water out of the salt reservoir. Five minute job. Then put back 0.5 litre of water and filled up with salt. Works perfectly now. Saved a fortune by not having to call out an engineer and an even greater fortune by not having to buy a new dishwasher!

Just tried the error code 30 trick of tipping the machine on it's side and hey presto - began working. Great tip and thank you for saving me a call out and many days 'washing up' !!

Check internal hoses and hose clamps for small leaks. Water from here more likely to trip RCD than microswitch on float device. My pipe union hose had a tiny hole which sprayed water enough to create same problems. Perhaps change spring clamps for screw clamps

Tipping the dishwasher forward 45 degrees as recommended certainly works. I also had the leak prevention (i30) on my AEG 60820 and in the tipping allowed the trapped water, which wasn't much, to trickle out. This advice has saved me hours of washing up and an expensive call out charge for an engineer to likely do the same!

Hi everyone,
I have just had a similar problem - my built-in dishwasher (Electrolux AEG Favorite 88070VI) is only 3months old, service code i30 appeared on the screen and I was left with a load of dirty dishes. I tried to contact Electrolux Ireland via a number of numbers sourced from my product literature and the web, got through on the 5th number only to be told it would take 3-4 days for an engineer to call. Not wanting to wash any dishes I googled the problem, thankfully I found this website, pulled the dishwasher out, disconnected the electric, turned it over, cleaned up the water (thankfully we have a good tiled floor and the kitchen units are raised of the ground so no damage done) and the dishwasher is now quietly working away in the background. yeppee
I think however that getting the engineer out (still under warranty) will still be necessary to solve the leak but at least I won’t have to do the dishes in the meantime!! Next time I shall try draining the water through the salt reservoir – sounds much easier!!

Mending our dishwasher AEG OKO Favorit 5040W (1999). There are basically two motors, one to do the power wash and a smaller one to drain the water out. Our problem was that it sounded like the drain motor was working because of its humming but it was clear by the dirty water left inside the dishwasher that it wasn't functioning. It took me a lot of time to work out that there wasn't a blockage in the system and that the drain motor sounded as if it was working but when I finally took it out and wired it up to the mains on the kitchen worktop. The impeller would spin four times out of five but then the next time the power went on it would stall but still make the same noise as if it was working properly. I was quoted £80 for this motor at a local shop but found this excellent company on the website http://shop.ezee-fix.co.uk/ +44 (0) 1423 505 663 where the motor cost me £43. They even recommended a similar motor from Zanussi which was five pounds cheaper and is almost identical to the Bosch one. They give helpful advice on the phone. The motor electric female connector on the Zanussi pump was a little different to the male connector of the machine and needed one wire to be added to join one of the connections to the plug. Make sure that if you have to modify that you get +ve to + ve. The motor came two days after I ordered it online.
I bought a useful plastic pump- two clear pipes with a corrugated plastic bulb on top, about £8 from my DIY shop to hand pump out the mucky water from the sump before tipping Dishwasher on its side. The tip on towels is helpful as they soak up any remaining water
I made a mistake of removing both the black sump pump and the motor together. With such a tight space underneath the dishwasher, even with all the panels off and the dishwasher on its side, it was a nightmare to try and get the motor and pump back onto the rubber hose. In the end I took away the wire spring clip and used a Jubilee clip to clamp the hose onto the pump.
Tip - The motor comes off the black pump housing easily with a quarter of a turn anticlockwise. The motor has three lugs on it that lock onto the pump housing with a big o-ring inside to seal it. There is no need to remove the pump housing from the rubber hose as well. Saving a whole afternoon that it took me to try and get back the wire spring clip into position. It’s very easy to put the new motor back in with a quarter of a turn.
Two different engineers I spoke to on the phone both said that the drain (sump) motor is one that goes fairly frequently. It seems that water, in the end, gets past the seal on the bearing behind the impeller. I wonder if most problems people have on this page, where the machine will not drain, is down to an intermittent drain motor fault. Both engineers said that OKA was an excellent quality machine but now an OKA have been taken over by a British company, the German made ones are still good but a lot of the machines are now British and badged OKA and the quality is not the same. One said Siemens now is the better quality machine which I may get when my OKO finally packs up but I think it is a quality machine and it should last a long time more with the occasional maintance.
My AEG OKO, has been working well since I put a new drain motor in.

I have one problem since then which has only seems to happen maybe once a year. When the level is too high in the sump, the switch goes on and overrides the power switch and programmer etc to run the emptying (sump) pump continuously. The advice you gave above is good, pull out the dishwasher, with towels on the floor tip it over 45 degrees. This will drain the water in the sump and reset the switch. The dishwasher will be fine again for ages. Of course there shouldn’t be a leak but I cannot find it and once a year I am willing to put up with it.

Just a bit of a warning. I live on a hill and when we recently had a burst water pipe in the valley below, the vacuum/suction on my dishwasher's water supply, caused the solenoid to break down. I would suggest that you close the water supply to your machine when not in use as it has been quite difficult for me to first fine and then replace the said part with the correct one.

Thanks to everyone posting on this site I've managed to fix my 60870! Error code 30 - anti flood device problem so removed machine as instructed and tipped forward 45deg to empty all water and hey presto!

Thankyou everyone - just fixed this antiflood fault problem on my 2007 model AEG dishwasher by sliding it out and tipping it forward and back 45 degrees. This saved me days of waiting for a service technician to do the same 10 minute job.

Engeneer has changed the resitance but not told why is burned. Now at the end of any program electricity turns off again and you can smell burn if open the machine door. Can anyone tell me why?

Thanks to everyone, just managed to fix my anti-flood system problem {fault code 30}on AEG Favorit 65070 by siphoning the water out of the filter resevoir using a small length of fish tank airline that cost me 75 pence! Now working again

took unit our turned on all four sides. checked filter on input hose. checked water in salt area. put all together again. now works fine. this is the second time in two years this happened.

Thanks for great help regarding error C3, it worked perfectly on my AEG Lavamat 1800 washing machine. I opened the lid on the bottom right side, emptied the plastic hose - and also took out the filter there which was clogged and then tilted the machine 45 degrees and emptied some more water. The machine works again, and I've saved money not having to call the service operator. Thanks!

I read the question and answers to the anti flood problem ie pump staying on.My dishwasher is built in so it is not really practical to pull it out.
My model is the aeg oko favorit 40250 model.Inside is the salt dispenser compartment.I unscrewed the plastic top and as the container was empty of salt,I drained the container of water with a plastic hose then looking into the container with a torch I noticed at about the two clock position
I noticed a gap in which I inserted the plastic tube further syphoning off more water.I left the dishwasher alone for a day and when I turned it on again the antiflood pump was off and the dishwasher was ok again.The fault was caused by the filters being clogged up.Also the model nos are on a label on the r/h side of the door and if you cannot see it use a because of the dishwasher position in the fitted kichen use a mirror to see the details.Ifyou do not want a mouthfull of dirty water when you are syphoning the water buy a small pump that fits on an electric driil,they are quite cheap.Thanks again for the forum,it set me off in the right direction to solve my problem.

Thank you very much to E Lambert and Phil M whose suggestion I followed as our old OKO FAVORIT 875 is fixed in and it would take quite an effort to pull it out. I found the plastic cap as Phil suggested. It is on the right hand side of this machine. Opened it up and sure enough it was full of water. Drained it with a hose and presto the machine is working again. We were nearly going to go out and buy a new one but thanks to this forum I can put that off for a while. Thanks again very much.

My OKO 5040 started doing exactly this last night - it just randomly in the middle of the evening started pumping itself out non-stop. I found this site and the suggestion to tip it on its side which I tried tonight. It worked perfectly ! Thanks for the tip :-)

I think my fault was probably caused by my water having been switched off and on a number of times during the past fortnight whilst having my bathroom done. I suspect that a sudden in-rush of water after an air bubble got water inside where it shouldn't be.

Another OKO 4040 back on the road - not much changes over nearly 3 years since this thread started. Lots of towels on the kitchen floor but only a dribble of water came out. Did wonder if I needed to lay the machine to the left or right or if it even mattered?

I couldn't get the wash cycle to go past 'drain' on my OKO 4040 - the pump seemed to be permanently on, even when the front panel switch was 'off'. It had some dirty dishes in when the problem started. Even though I cleaned the filters, it still wouldn't work. I followed the advice of putting it on its side and 4 pints of water over the floor later (but I had the towels ready - thanks!), my 4040 was back the right way up and working perfectly. Brilliant!!!

Yes I reset the flood device and the machine was fine until it ran for a while and water started pouring from the plastic tray. The problem I have is that I can't find where the leak is comming from. Water does pump out of the drain hose when the pump is activated. I have dismanteled and cleaned the salt matrix on the left. Any clues?
Ps kitchen floor is now very clean!

I had resigned myself to a new dishwasher (OKO 4040) untill I found this site. I think the problem was caused by a blocked U trap under the sink that the outlet feeds in to. As advised machine out and mains disconnected I tipped out most of the water by tilting the machine to the right and then laid it completely on it's side. Hey presto £450 saved! Thanks to those who have contributed.

Just installed a AEG 40850 onto existing 'blocked drain pipe' Guess what---ERROR 30--- call center not helpful, said blocked pipe?? Had already guessed that and unblocked but fault remained --- they sugested engineer call, they wanted to come and look. I looked here and tipped machine forward towards some towels and 1 Litre water came out ---GOT CLEAN DISHES NOW ---- THANKS FOLKS

I didn't get around to cleaning the filter so the anti-flood device kicked in.
AEG Favorit 445i dishwasher has a plastic cap on the front left hand side, at the bottom.
Remove the cap, and stick your finger in the hole and downwards - you should feel the water in there.
I used a short piece of garden hose pipe, pushed it in the hole and downwards and sucked the water out. Not much in there, but switched the dishwasher back on and it all works fine again.
Admittedly, the water didn't taste very nice, but saved a few quid and got rid of the taste with a cup of tea.

Thanks- I seem to have fixed it last night doing something similar. Took the front panel off, to get to the front base panel. Took the front base panel off, then used towels to dry out the pool of water in the bottom. The anti flood device reset itself and the dishwasher started working again, but the outlet pipe was blocked (obviously this caused the problem in the first place). Quick blow down the tube shifted the blockage and all seems to be working!

The quickest way to restore action to your dishwasher is to disconnect it from supply,place 2 or 3 bathtowels on the floor then lie the dishwasher on its side on top of them, the anti flood water should seep out onto the towels, then stand the dishwasher back up ,the anti flood should then have reset itself.
