ok, if its still working than you can easily stop the water and smell.
Basically, you have punctured the refrigeration channel (my wife did this tryig to remove a build up of ice with a knife)
if you have any kitchen or bathroom silicone sealant (the sort of thing you use to put around the sink or bath to stop water getting down the back and rotting the walls) you can use this to plug the hole like a cork, but the smell and the water is the refrigerant gas that keeps the unit cold. i would say this is a quick fix, but you would need to get someone to come take a look, maybe refill the refrigerant if possible. sometimes this costs a bit, so maybe new fridge freezer is an option.
