How do I fix my Hotpoint washing machine?

I was washing some pillows in my Hotpoint washer. It started to shake bad before I could get to it. I stopped the machine and rearranged the load and started it again. It seemed to be ok. It finished the load, I then started another one of regular wash. It filled with water and washed, but when it came to sping and rinse, it just made a moaning like sound. It seemed to be emptying most of the water but it wasn't emptying all the way. So I then restarted the cycle, it washed but doesn't empty the water. It makes a moan kind of noise, I also smelled an order. I don't have a tool to take the back off. How do I do that? What kind of tool do I need? Is that where I need to check or do I need to look elsewhere? I need to get laundry done for a husband that is terminally ill and bed ridden.

Can anyone give me some advice, my hotpoint Aquarius 1100 makes a very load nocking noise when the drum spins on all cycles and when the drum spins at top speed the washing machine shakes very violently please could someone help

just pull the front off(pry's off) and look to the bottum right...there's your water pump..sounds like something caught in there. make sure it's unplugged..loosen and pull off the hose going into it..see if maybe the shake knocked loose a scarf or baby sock caught in there..maybe still savable. If not..replace the pump..tighten the hoses..plug in. (BTW..when you pull the hose..better to have it leaning out the door half way so water goes out..not all over floor)..G
