My AEG Competence oven keeps switching off after approx 30 mins at temperatures over 180. If I have it on lower it will continue to run but if I turn it up it switches off and then stays off for about 20 mins and comes back on. Any ideas????

is the cooling fan working ? (not the fan in oven cavity).there is one sited on top of oven cavity

I had exactly the same problem with my AEG competence. Turned out the thermostat had burned out. Replaced the thermostat and it works now. All I don't know is why it burned out. If anyone can tell how this can happen it would be appreciated
