96 buick skylark new fuel pump ,won't start,what needs to be done?

I have a 1996 Buick skylark,The fuel pump was replaced and now it won't start unless you spray starting fluid into the air intake, Whats wrong?(was starting before it was changed, but would die when it was being drove are when it was at a stop light,had to spray starting fluid to restart car)
