There should be 3 hidden files in the root directory (drive letter) of the player (from memory I think they are MUSIC.DAT, MUSIC.LIB and SETTINGS.DAT), if these files are corrupt the player hangs so delete them and they will be recreated next time the player is switched on (they're used as internal operating system's list of music on the player and saved config settings - volume, brightness,etc).
