how do i remove starter motor from 1994 ford mondeo?

in my haynes manual it says to simply remove the three threaded bolts holding the motor. however on my diesel i have two threaded bolts and a threaded bar with a nut on the end which looks as though the threaded bar can not be removed without taking even more things off . the cars a glx and this is the first starter motor change its required , not too bad for a car thats done a quater of a million miles.
