an orange light has come on in my Ford Mondeo Lx what does it mean?

That would be the check engine light on your vehicle, some vehicles have a light that says "check engine" or in your case some vehicles have just an engine picture. What this means is that a sensor in your vehicle needs replacing. To find out which one it is you need to take it to a garage and have them hook it up to the computer and that will tell exactly why the light is coming on, garges usually charge you to do this but if you know where an AutoZone is then they will do it for free
