To remove the switch use a small bladed screwdriver and insert it in the top of the flat side of switch, now slowly and gently push screwdriver towards the wand so as to push the clip into the switch, at the same time pull on the switch that you would press to turn on, then it should just lift out, at the bottom of the switch with the button removed you will see a screw, usually its a star ( torx ) a small bladed driver will do if you do not have a torx driver, remove this ( assuming you have already unplugged the cleaner ) and the whole switch will lift out complete with cable. Do not attempt to join cable, but either repair or replace it, as I have seen a cleaner with the same problem come into the shop where the owner had just twisted the wires together with no tape, hence the wife had a nasty shock and so did he when his wife left him for it. Lol, if you need further help my mail add is stirlingwill@hotmail.com
