fixing the on and off button?

how do you seperate the parts on the handle of the Kenmore unit to fix the on and off button, the model number is 116.31312100, the on and off button does not work needs replacing

Just sometimes (about 10% of the time), you can free a sticking switch with a few drops of penetrating oil (graphite preferably). Just apply the drops where they will seep into the switch, then operate the switch a few dozen times. You might get lucky!
