Hotpoint WMA56 won't spin?

Engineer condemmed it. It had a faulty electrical wire which had been rubbing on one of the pipes at the back of the machine (which is a common design fault with the WMA's) which in turn blew the front circuit board (which was quoted as £106 plus labour) the machine only costed £189 when I bought it! Now bought a Zanussi washing machine, which the engineer said should last longer as they use better parts.
