How to unlock a Sony CDX M610 when you loose the remote?

I need help to unlock my Sony CDX M610. The code was MENU-ENTER-MODE-OPEN. There is no 'OPEN' on the CD player and I lost the remote. So no way to make it unlocked.

Another (quicker, easier) way if you're crap at soldering or don't own a soldering iron is to use a lead pencil. I used an IKEA pencil (available free from every IKEA store)

TP1 TP2 TP3 are located through a small rectangle hole on the underside of the unit. And as an example the soldered bits will look something like this:

( ) ( ) (O)

The third one having a blob of solder on it. Your stereo may have a blob on a different connection.

Use your pencil, and draw circles (so the pencil-lead makes the connection) on the connections that do not have a blob of solder on.

You need the connections to be bridged like this:

(O) (O) (O)

It is important that you do not let TP1 connect to TP2, or TP2 connect to TP3. If they touch, then this trick doesn't work. So once you've drawn a good connection with your pencil, blow away any excess pencil-lead dust, and use a small flathead screwdriver to GENTLY scrape/remove any stray pencil lead that may be joining TP1 to TP2, and likewise between TP2 & TP3.

Plug in and happy days! :)

If you have lost the code for the stereo and need it recoding this is how to do it with out a remote!!!

On the base of the car stereo you will see a cut out on the chassis with 3 or 4 round solderes that will be either 2 soldered together 2 unsoldered anyway not that it matters just solder the 4 together the stereo will be decoded if you havnt got the remote just press reset twice and it bypasses the need to use a remote if you have got the remote just press the enter button.

Try this as a last resort but it does work.

hi bud, you need to either get another keypad off e-bay or take unit to get code bypassed at a stereo repair shop. the keypad you need is a sony rm-x96 or a sony rm-x117. best of luck
