speedfight problems(no spark)?
what have peugeot done?these speedfights seem to have serious problem with their immobilisers.the bikes from new are fitted with a single box that has a cdi unit and an immobiliser combined.they are preset to recognise the chip in the keys so the immobiliser tells the cdi unit to relase a spark,if your speedfight loses its spark there are a few things to check first.
1; check the areiel that fits on the front of the ignition switch (behind the inner legshield) hast fallen off as it needs this to relay the chips signal to the unit.
2;check the spark plug or just re new it they are only £3.00 in fact check this one first.
3;have a look under the clocks the circuit board on the reverseof the clocks sometimes breaks with corrosion and it will cause a loss of spark sometimes.
4;try a new ht cap they are just screwed onto the end of the ht lead its very unlikely to be a secondary ignition coil at fault and if it is it can usually be seen from looking at the coil itself they melt and split open if bad.
5;if the bike has been stolen and you get it back and someone has tried to start it then there is a very good chance the immobiliser will be fu**ed especially if they have tampered with the wiring if the switch is busted get a new one for a few quid .
6;if these all prove to be no good then buy a non chipped cdi unit from electex they are cheaper than an original and dont go wrong as they do not have a immobiliser built into them the cdi/immobiliser unit is behind the lower half of the inner legshield and you will need to take it off to get to it.
ok here is the link for electrex http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/#8930X0
