i might have a temp solution.you'll need a screw driver and a hair dryer....yes..you read right.the hair dryer will test for this similar problem that i had(stuck on standby).I'll try and be as descriptive as possible.
1.remove the back cover(quite a few screws),don't remove the scart sockets
2.look to the far left/down(corner).you'll find the power supply in 3 stages(top-middle-lower).
3.fire up the hair dryer(set to hot) and aim it at the power supplies middle section(heat sink area).
The t.v should now come on.don't ask me how i came to solve it this way but when i get time,i will isolate the fault,now i have a way to find it.its a thermal problem.possible dry joints as this area gets hot.
oh yes nearly forgot..this area is very dangerous so avoid touching anything.
