Mend Ford Fiesta Ghia 1994 Turn Alarm Off

How can I turn my alarm off?

Recently when I've been locking my car (Fiesta Ghia 1994), the red light of the immobiliser comes on and then the alarm just keeps sounding. When I unlock it, the alarm goes off. Last night however, the alarm kept 'chirping' and we had to disconnect the battery to turn it off. Anyone any idea please?!
