How can I sort out the brake lights not working on my vw sharan?

How can I sort out the brake lights not working on my vw sharan?
I have replaced the brake light bulbs and had a quick look at the switch on the brake peddle but can't get the brake lights to work. The fuse is ok. Any advice? It is a 2ltr petrol 1998 model.

its a common problem on vw's the pedal switch has gone faulty. you need to look how many wires go to swich too as there is a few different switchs.
