How can i fix the phillips alarm on a transit?

my dad recently changed th batery on his transit van fitted with a phillips alarm, now the fob will not unlock or lock the doors. I suspect the code in the alarm has been reset and now the fob has to be paired, but is there an easy way to do this or would an alarm specialist have to reset the fob?
