Mend Hotpoint Clothes Eating

Clothes eating Hotpoint WM63?

I have a Hotpoint WM63 which keeps getting my clothes trapped, and then destroyed, in the gap between the drum and the green hard plastic next to the door rubber seal. I am not overloading my washing machine and sometimes eats my socks which gives some little nice (annoying) black spots to my next white laundry. Any idea on what is causing it? and more important, how can I fix it?

hi, i have a hotpoint hw63, and its never eaten my socks yet? mind you i do chuck in a tin of dog food with every wash?
if you go down to a washing machine shop and get a rubber ring that fits inside an old spinner and push this inside the drum before you wash it could solve this? its that or the frunt is bent out and this is why you have a big gap there, its a work up getting the frunt off, but it only needs a philips driver to do it, pull off the bottom cover, take the three philips out the top at the back, there are four more inside the power tray, lift and slide to the right to get this off, open the door, and at the top inside the door theres a small box looking thing with a spring whire in it this is the door seal ring pull it off and unhook the door seal, then the six philips, frunt cover, three at the top three at the bottom, lift it and pull it away, now bend it in? or fit new one?

A replacment front panel is now available with a metal edge covering the green plastic you mention next to the door seal thus prevent items getting trapped and snagged.

I vaguely remember some washing machines being featured on TV ("Watchdog") because a particular model had a design fault and was doing this. I think it was Hotpoints, but I might be wrong. Have you contacted Hotpoint? They may have recalled them, or issued advice.
