how to connect dvd to tv/vcr combo?

i have a proline tv/vcr combo and when i connect a dvd via scart, dvd doesn't work. Any ideas?

Try switching on DVD player, if this doesn't change the TV to its AV channel then try and find the AV button on your remote, this may be hard to spot- but should be there somewhere! Failing the previous two try pressing the channel down button on your remote (starting at BBC1) it may take you to its AV channel that way. P.S Is the cable staying tightly pluged into the scart sockets? If not then the signal might not be getting to the TV.
