Computer crashed. Have had major probs getting back again, but colour is still only 16 mb

Dan have you tried installing the drivers that came with your video card? If you haven't got these you can probably download the files by visiting the manufacturer's web site or by going to www.drivers.com
If you are having huge problems you could consider getting another video card. Unless you are a real gamer and need a top spec card, you will find that a perfectly acceptable card will be fairly cheap to buy.
