Unlocking a digibox - help!?

Hi,

I have a digibox that is stuck on lock. I wish I could tell you the brand and model but since I threw away the instructions and box when I moved house I can't! It was one of the cheap ones (about £28) you get from a supermarket.

Basically it stays on lock. It started with No Signal then went onto this. Clearly there is a signal from the aerial as the normal TV works when routed through it. Leaving it unplugged over night didn't work and none of the handset or front of box controls work either. Yes, I did try changing the remote batteries!

Can anyone help?? My toddler is going crazy without CBeebies.

Did I mention it's a Freeview only box?

I worked in the Middle east and purchased a digibox
GALAXI SAT 500 IRD (made by Samsung) to receive Bloomberg available on Intelsat-12 45E In the begining I was receiving Bloomberg by subscription plus a number of european free channels.
Then Bloomberg went free and I received it along with other free chanels for 2 years without any subscription.
Since returning to London I have tested it on fully workinfg SKY antenna. I can get in the menu and change parameters. The receiver has at the back a Module plugged in --labelled-- Restricted Access. It says the same thing with Module pulled out.
It does not matter what channel I put in the manu; it keeps saying E45 searching for that channel (which I have put in) on E 45.
Can anyone please please guide me How to UNLOCK E45 satelite. So that Imay be able to receive channels from any satelitte or even Sky free channels.

Press and hold the power button in the front middle for 10 seconds , as you release pull out the power cable at the back,leave out for 10 seconds it may take one or two attempts...
Mine worked after holding the middle button for 3 seconds but their helpdesk people suggested 10 seconds...The unit then went back to the set up search sequence.It worked for me

Just do one last thing mate, when it is showing green light, pull off its power cable from the back and re-inser it after 3 seconds and it should work.

As you have the receipt, take it back to Argos and get a new one or your money back.

In answer to my own question - I have found the receipt and now know it is a cg5660-m durabrand box. I've Googled that and found variuos people talking about it.

I've tried their suggestions for when it is frozen in standby mode but they don't work (unplug aerial and press menu). The box is still frozen and non-responsive but it isn't in standby mode but in lock with a green light.
