How to install belt on Dirt Devil 103 Hand held?

Please help me ...I have the little black belt floating around in the hed of the little cleaner. How do I attach it again? THANKS

My belt is going round but the roller is not. There's then a smell of burning so I turn off.
Without the belt the roller spins ok if a little stiff.
Any suggestions?

I have changed the twist of the belt in both directions and it still slides off when operated

If the belt spins off the drive rod, change the twist of the belt 180 degrees.

The Dirt Devil is a real "DEVIL." I have one also, and they're noted for the belt coming off.
As long as the belt isn't worn or broken, you should be able to rotate the rod, and slowly refit the belt in.
It just takes patients!
