Mend electra 288 Replace Drum Appear

Repair or replace?

I have an electra compact 288 tumble dryer. When it is turned on, the drum does not appear to spin, it makes a loud grating / growling type sound. I can feel heat coming from it.
Can it be repaired as I like the simplicity of the machine and the fact that I dont have to bend to empty a reservoir.
