Mend Bissell 1670F

Stripping a Bissell 1670 model?

I have a Bissell model 1670F. I am trying to gain access to the motor and pumps. I note the advice of one of the replys to this colum to pry the two halves apart but this does not seem to work in this case. Is there more that has to be done before prying the two covers off?
