Wickes drill press?

I have Wickes drill press ( bench drill) circa 1980 still works well as not used weekly let alone daily. The chuck assembly return spring has broken..
The housing its in has aopprox 400 inside measurement I have seen drill press springs 5 coils 35mm diameter coils but not sure these will suit my drill.
Any suggestions welcome except "buy new drill"
