Whirlpool ed25te will stop cooling/freezing until I tap on temp control pan?

I have a whirlpool ed25te side by side that both freezer and refrigerator will stop cooling/freezing, no sounds coming from it but the lights will stay on.

I noticed one day after taking a gallon of water out of the refrigerator it was warm and everything else was sweating, I went to put the gallon back in the refrigerator and bumped the top of the fridge where the temperature dials are and it started up (both freezer and fridge) and cooled down again.

I have to tap on these dials/around the dials everytime it stops running to get it to run again. When I have dials set to coldest, it seems to stay running and doesn't shut off on its own. What could this be?
