Broken remote control to garage?

My remote was found in a glass of sprite
and it soaked all night.
I cleaned it the next day with rubbing alcohol and replaced the battery.
It worked fine until now.
I'll try a new battery but it was new when I replaced it with the old one,
ANY SUGGESTIONS BEFORE I BUY A NEW ONE?
