why does my car cut out when the temputer gets half way?

Seems to be a recurrent theme that a Zafira cuts out when the temperature (or temputer if you must) starts to rise.

Suggestions are the EGR valve and blockage in a breather section of the throttle body, which needs to be carfefully drilled out.
