samsung ps50c96hdx/eux audio lost?

Hi guys,
I have a Samsung tv that has lost audio.
the sound bar icon shows a headphone icon (when headphones are not plugged in! the volume control responds visibly, running up or down but no sound.
if I plug a lead with a jack plug on each end or a pair of headphones, the headphones icon is removed but still no sound.
Any ideas please guys?
