How do you replace the belt on a Bell & Howell Director Series #1421 Super 8 Projector

The old belt is gone. I have not started the process to mount the new belt. It appears that this is a difficult replacement, unlike many other projectors. Does the whole spindle shaft need to be removed. Unless I am missing something so simple, it appears to me that there is quite a bit of dis-assembly required to mount a new belt. Any help would be appreciated

Your question is low on detail - you do not say if you have started to do this and have got stuck along the way - or if you have yet to begin.

The flippant answer is that you remove any covers over the belt - then remove the old belt - then fit the new belt - then put the covers back.
