my daughter has a hotpoint washing machine which intremittently trips the ring main MCB. it usually does this at the end of the washing cycle and sometimes cannot be used again for a few days. the MCB can be reset immediately to reinstate the ring main.
mal this is usually the drum bearings that have gone and the drum has droped and worn through the heating element water then gets in and it trips,if bearings have not gone then faulty heating element
