You have to open shower lid and a multi plug has to be plugged from main shower to the lid controls

Did you replace the original shower because it didn't work if so changing it has not resolved the problem.when you say it has an electrical supply how are you testing it?if you are using a neon screwdriver they are notoriously unreliable as they light up with little voltage and if the neutral is is faulty they will show power. only a proper circuit tester will reveal the problem
