Press the button to the right of the 'SELECT' button to power up the phone in locked mode. The screen will then display 'UNLOCK' above the 'SELECT' button. You now need to press the 'SELECT' button followed quickly with pressing the 'HASH' key (bottom left key also shows a padlock and + sign). This is the basic power-up process without going into passwords and PIN numbers.
