Mend Hotpoint 168 Dishwasher Faulty Program

Hotpoint 168 faulty?

Hi our dishwasher will not start the program selection lights are working but when selecting any program and closing the door the machine does not start. The salt light comes on but if anything it has to much salt not sure if this is a contribution to the fault or not, what should we look for to find fault?
