how do i change timer on my protherm e boiler?

Hi My protherm E boiler is working,heating /hot water,but the timer clock is not workingat all. It will not tick roundso heating cannot be set to come on at a given time.Is this just a case of repacing the timer or is there anything else i should be aware of.Is the timer difficult to replace.Many Thanks Mike
