Mend Defy Laundromaid 1300 Top Motor Runs

defy laundromaid 1300 top loader drain motor runs non stop?

my drain motor gave in and i replaced it with a new one. the motor now runs non-stop and i have to unplug the wall socket to stop it. pls advise me what could be the cause of this and how i can fix it.
