Mend John Deere LX277 Mower

Breaks primary belt ?

Have a John Deere LX277 riding mower with a 48C deck. The primary belt, not the blade belt, broke after working fine for the 2 months we owned it. I replaced the belt, after 30 minutes the new belt broke as well. Any ideas?
