zanussi washer/dryer model WS1665W with E!0 error not drying?

After setting to dryer nothing has happened for ten minutes then error E10 shows on the display.
The washing cycle works, but I am not convinced that the water is getting heated, as the door window seems cold to touch.
I thought it may be the heating element, but could it be one of the sensors at fault or something else?
any help would be welcome.
