Mend Firebird 90/120 Super Q

Firebird 90/120 Super Q?

My burner starts ok then after 45 seconds the flame goes out for about 15 seconds then ignites again. It repeats this sequence for about 15 to 20 minutes then settles down to normal running. There is a smell of kerosene after this also. Any ideas ?
