Mend Kenmore 116.21714110 Vacuum Replacement Motor

Kenmore canister Vacuum motor replacement ?

I have a 3 1/2 year old Sears Kenmore canister vac, model 116.21714110 that I need to replace the motor. Sounds like a jet engine, so loud. No repair manual anywhere and Sears was no help. I've taken the tool lid off and removed the two screws from the housing. I can't find any tabs on the rear of the housing to take it off to access the motor. How do I get that housing off without breaking the case. Thank yhou
