electric start on my gilera dna 50 isn't functioning?

i have had the problem my kick start works when it wants to but my electric start isnt even trying and now my brake lights wont work any ideas

i would take the right hand cover where the kickstart is off and have a look there are two gears in there that make the kickstart work they may be damaged,do the brake lights work?and are you pulling the brake to operate the electric start and is the battery charged up and in good condition?
