How can I remove the hose handle from my Tristar Mg1 vacuum?

I need to replace the hose handle from my Tristar Mg1 Model A101G due to some broken parts. I have taken the screw covers off and loosened the hose handle cover. This has enabled me to get the wiring out, but I cannot take the hose handle cover off entirely, nor can I seem to get the hose handle off of the hose at all. I removed the pin holding the handle to the hose, but it doesn't seem to have had any impact on loosening the hose handle from the hose. Any ideas?
