Mend Blow Water System

How to blow out the irrigation water lines prior to winter?

How do I blow out the irrigation water lines so that they do not freeze this winter. I never had a system. This is for a friend who just bought a home with an irrigation system. So neither one of us is familiar with irrigation equipment.
