Immobiliser fault ?

Hi I have a Renault megane 2004 plate one day I went to open my car which it wouldn't let me I had to open the passenger side door with the manual key one in the vehicle I tried to start the car on the dash board it then flashed up "immobiliser fault" could anyone tell me what the problem could be please

Your problem being you own a Renault and are notorious for electrical problems,I know of workshops who turn these motors away with your sort of problem and send them off to a main dealer,last one I heard of ended up costing £1.5k to repair,in future select your vehicle carefully.
