Mend Water Valve Shower

how can I stop water?

had a new gate valve fitted now unable to stop water through shower.

I take it that's what it was for! so plumber must have fitted gate valve to wrong pipe or its a faulty valve even though new, if he fitted a new one.get him back. Yes even new can be faulty.
