Hotpoint WT960 blowing circuit breaker?

Hi, I had a problem with washer blowing the breaker during a cycle, once or maybe several times. Now I can't even plug it into socket (tried several) without the breaker tripping. Had the top and back plate off and everything looks clean and dry, wires appear intact and connected so I'm baffled. Also my dishwasher was sharing a double socket beneath worktop with the washer and using this sometimes caused breaker to go even if the washer was off. Tried dishwasher on another socket and no problem now, could this be because the washer takes a small amount of current even in the off state as I noticed the display would flash when I turned the breaker back on??
