Mend Fiat Grande Punto 2006 1.2 Problem Times

How can I fix my Heat Gauge Display?

Hi there, I have a Fiat Grande Punto 2006 1.2. The problem is that at times ( mostly when cold out and on a downhill ) My heat gaudge needle would start dropping and then fall flat. This in return then puts on the engine managment light.
I have noticed that this happens when going downhill and coasting. Any help will be appreciated.
