how can i fix my gear box?

I have a galaxy 2.8 auto 4x4 and when it gets to about 40 mph it trys to change down a gear when it dont need to any reason why. Cheers

its possible than ur synchromesh inside the gearbox is broken - drain the oil to see if you can find bits of metal in the oil this will show you that damage has occured and its more than likley you will need a new gearbox
