Mend Dimplex X1S Heater Flame Effect Remote

Dimplex X1S Fire. No flame effect?

Remote will activate little red light in corner, with short bleep. Occasionally the flame effect will come on, but now it won't come on at all. Light bulbs are OK and fan is free to turn.
