Mend Brother CS-6000i Thread Machine

Thread tangled in Brother CS-6000i sewing machine?

I have a brand new Brother CS-6000i sewing machine and the thread is caught in the upper machine portion, it looks like its behind the lever. How do I get to that part of the machine? It appears there's no way to open it? Do I have to take it for repair - it is still under warranty and I'm ready to return it. I've sewn less than 2 feet with it. Please help!
